I'll give y'all an update of my week by day. A lot happened!
Saturday
I picked my family up at the airport, and I must say, it is so nice to have an airport that is A.) only 25 minutes away, and B.) that is easily navigated. Makes me quite happy! After hanging out and going food shopping we went to the Duke/UVA football game! We were all representing Duke Divinity School quite nicely. We sat with my married friends (but not married to each other, lol) Brent and Michelle. It was a really hot day, and my family was pretty tired from flying, so we left at half time. Too bad, because Duke ended up killing UVA in the second half! That's ok. Really cool- at the beginning of the game there was a demonstration of people parachuting from planes and landing on the football field. It was pretty amazing:
Also, here are some pictures of the team and the marching band. Gotta love marching bands :-)
Clearly we had fun :-)
Saturday night we took the roommates out to dinner in Brightleaf Square, to a lovely Italian restaurant. Then Jenna slept over the apartment, which was fun!
Sunday
I forced my family to come to lots of church-y things with me, haha. They went to adult ed while I was at choir (the one thing I don't like about St. Luke's- I can't go to both!), then the service, then a new-comers luncheon at the Rector's house. I thoroughly enjoyed my day, but I know Jenna especially did not. Oh well :-) Then during the afternoon they made me watch the Patriots game. I'd say that's a fair give-and-take Sunday. hahaha. At night I was still able to go to the Compline service at UNC which is becoming one of my favorite parts of the week!Monday
I got to lead morning prayer, filling in for a woman who had a family emergency. Luckily when I get the call 12 hours before I have to lead, I have far less time to be nervous and know I can just do it! Woo. (Also leading the Monday after fall break- to all my Duke Div friends who will be so excited to go back to school next Monday that you want to get there at 8am!). Then I tried out for the Broadway Revue- this big Divinity School event involving lots of Broadway singing and dancing. I'm uber pumped! The cast list comes out in November (but no one gets cut, wahooooo), so I'm looking forward to see what songs I'll be in!My family joined me for lunch on Monday and they got a meet a bunch of my friends, Anne, Michelle, Rachel, and Jeannie. (Also, for any Framingham friends who read this- I think it's funny that close friends here are also named Rachel and Michelle! hehe.) Then Jenna came to Hebrew with me, and she said she wasn't THAT bored! Good! The rest of the afternoon we just hung out, (I got some reading done), and then took Kat and T.J. out for dinner again- to the yummy burger place I went to the previous weekend with Anne.
Tuesday
Real life sunk in again, and I realized how much work I didn't do while my family was here, so I played lots and lots of catch-up.Very minimal sleep on Tuesday night...Wednesday
Longest day of my week, but it always ends on a happy note (ha) with choir. Another night of minimal sleep, because Thursday I had a huge presentation, and Friday I had a midterm. Plus all of the work for my other classes. It was a pretty stressful week.Thursday
I worked on my huge presentation for Episcopal Polity all day. Ah the joy of group projects... I offered to put our powerpoint together, because I love making powerpoints (and let's be honest, I didn't trust anyone else to get it right... haha). And it was a really badass presentation, however during class it didn't go as well as I would have hoped... The Bishop did tell me after class that I did a very nice job (yay), but overall my group was really bad with time management, soooo it got really long and boring. Yup. But I learned all about the constitution and canons of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, if anyone's interested in chatting about that! Also on Thursday AEHS has a brown bag lunch about vestments which was really cool! I like learning about all this stuff that I've grown up with but never knew any of the history. So interesting.
And for I think possibly the first time in my life, said three of the daily office prayers (morning, noonday and evening) on Thursday. They've started evening prayer from 5:05-5:25 every day at school, and it's really nice to go to on days when I'm on campus that late. And who knew there was a group that did noonday prayer too? Found this out on Thursday. Good times :-)
Thursday night I spent studying... for what would be a really difficult midterm. Merp.
Friday
Mid-term day. But first I had to go to my Church History precept, which just seemed silly since all of us were so nervous about this midterm. Oh well. The test was hard, I don't think I did well at all on the scripture IDs, but I think I did ok on the essay. It's all in the hands of my preceptor, so there's really nothing to worry about now. After Hebrew, I went to work and my amazing boss sent me home early! Love her. Then I came home and had the nicest letter to read from Caryl Dooley! Caryl, you are awesome. Letter writing is a lost art, and I really appreciate the 5 pages of handwritten amazingness that I received from you! It really made me so happy.
Friday night I made dinner for Kat and T.J.- chicken and vegetables. The only "Duke" thing I wanted my parents to buy me when they were here was an apron- wore it for the first time Friday.

Saturday
I had a really nice day yesterday- good combination of fun and productive. I got some reading done that I need to do before going to Geneva, and I did three (yes three) loads of laundry. I hadn't done laundry in about... three weeks? Maybe just 2.5, but still, I needed to do laundry.Last night a whole group of us went to UNC, and Andrew gave us a tour of the campus, and then we went out to dinner. It was super fun. :-) Here's a picture

Sunday.
Ah, the day of rest. I have been baking challah, listening to music, and writing this blog post for the majority of the day. I also took a nap (of course), and spent a lovely morning at church.I am very much looking forward to this week off, and I can't wait to spend some retreat time in Geneva.
Jukeboxing
Haven't done this in a while. Here is a song for your enjoyment. We're going to see them in December, yes I am quite excited!! (This song has been all the rage the past month or so... this is a fun, a cappella version!)
Peace, Love and Smiles y'all
Christa
